I've been trying to re-create this 'ball' that's supposed to come with Tyrannus.
The PIC based gadget I'm using to send a similar signal to what the remote sends for 'Feed' has given modest success. Anyone else try this?
I was hoping he'd chase it down... so far, he mostly just sits up and begs. |

Errol,
The best bet would to capture the IR signal that comes out of the remote control when the Roboreptile is tracking it in feed mode. Have you tried this?

Thanks for your reply roschler.
Yes, I've got the signal pretty well worked out. There are actually 2. The first is a set of DC pulses for tracking and the other one happens just as you release the feed button... that's the $480 code.
The gizmo I'm using to simulate the remote copies these signals closely. I guess the trick is to make Tyrannus see the IR signal in just the right way to track it.
It seems to work best about a foot off the ground, and hidden down a hallway. Then Tyrannus walks up until it can see it and starts the begging routine. I had hoped he would then turn and follow it- but... not.
Thanks to Nocturnal's guidance, I'm having a look at his little head to see how his eyes work... |

Errol,
Yes, Nocturnal is like a walking encyclopedia of knowledge in this area.
If you come up with something interesting please post pictures or a video. |
