My son got a Roboraptor for Christmas - we have opened it today, and it seems to be fine, but it won't walk. its legs look like they are kind of shuffling, but it doesn't move. the footpads don't seem flat to the floor, isi this the problem?

We are using it on a tiled floor.

TIA

See if that helps you.

And all the toes are not supposed to touch the floor at once... usually Roboraptor balances on the 2 inside toes from each foot. Wink

Thanks, I've had a read through that, and tried him on every surface we have in our house, but all he is doing is wobbling from side to side - I've tried all three walking gaits.

I think I will try new batteries (Dec 26 when the shops re-open) and see if that helps. I have 4 of those 2500 rechargables, I'll grab another 2.

Thanks, and if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Merry Christmas to all of you! And may all of your toys work perfectly!!

Gl with that. If you want, try regular good alkaline batteries first like Duracell Coppertop or Energizer Max. Mine runs fine on both and on rechargeable 2500mAh by Energizer.

Very Happy

I too gave my son a Roboraptor for Christmas and have been very frustrated that it doesn't want to walk on my carpet.

I've been reading some of the posts on here and have adapted my own solution which works!!!

I have used two beer bottle caps and blue-tack. I have attached them (slippery side down) to his two front-inside toes. Now he walks just as well (if not better) than on my linoleum.

Sure, it doesn't look fantastic...but definately works Very Happy

Hope this helps some other frustrated parents!

cjbchachacha,

Welcome to the forum!

Got a picture of that you can upload to the portal?:

Was it able to walk at all at the fastest walk speed?

That's bizarre! Shocked

I would have thought that putting the slippery side down of the bottle cap would make him slide even more.

Thanks for the pic! I will definitely try that one.

Hello,

We, too, gave our son a Roboraptor for Chrsitmas - and it just won't walk on the polished floorboards in our house!

We tried him on carpet and concrete as well - no luck!!!

He just wobbles from side to side for a while and then gives up - not fun at all.

I guess we ought to exchange him - any opinions?

Hi Iswat,

Yeah, frustrating isn't it!! We're going to try different batteries next and if that doesn't work tomorrow we will be exchanging him also. I'll let you all know how we get on.

I can't believe that so many people are having such a problem with a rather expensive toy. Not very impressed at all really!!

Hopefully tomorrow will bring us some more joy.

Hi - if you bought a raptor with batteries included - go out and get some new ones - the batteries that came with my son's raptor from M&S were rubbish. I put some duracell ones in as a short term measure and the performance increased significantly. Posts suggest using Energiser 2500 mAh rechargeables as a longer term option but this needs investigation....

iswat,

Did you try the faster walking speeds? Also, how are the rest of his movements? Since he is moving, I'd be very suspicious of the batteries at this point.

Luke's Raptor,

Let us know how things turn out please.

Here is how mine is working: It worked exelent when i first tried him, used 6x AA from ikea (the yellow ones) in him, but he didn't last very long (coulpe of hourse), then i tried some rechargebles i had already recharged, but it doesn't prowide enough power, cinse his moving is slowd down and not as agile as with new non recharge batteries. It could be because i have used the recharge ones for a couple of years noe, so i am going to buy som new ones when the stores open tomorrow, if that doesnt work i am going to order a boxload of the extreemly cheap ikea batteries Wink

Well, the faster modes just make him shuffle his feet faster, in the fastest he actually moves backwards at half the speed of a turtle on valium...

Also his left arm is limp, making me suspicious he might be a dud.

Tried upstairs on thin carpet rather than wood - no go.

As a toy, it's pretty much useless as it is at the moment. By the way, the batteries are brand new ones, non-rechargeable.

It never walked much at all - even straight out of the box with new batteries. I'll try and exchange it tomorrow, if the next one isn't any better then I got to say this is a lot of money for something that doesn't meet our expectations at all.
